Combo se complace en anunciar la performance titulada «El Nuevo Catolicismo», que tendrá lugar en Combo, el 1 de Mayo de 2015 a las 20:00h. «El Nuevo Catolicismo» es una coreografía desarrollada por el artista noruego Karen Nikgol, que se encuentra actualmente en La Fragua, la Residencia para Artistas de Belalcázar, Córdoba.
Para su proyecto, Karen Nikgol ha incluido a actores locales de Belalcázar, personas que practican yoga, y raperos y músicos de Córdoba como Still, Espíritu de Calle y DJ JMC.
En El Nuevo Catolicismo, Nikgol mezcla las historias personales de los performers, con rituales, sesiones espirituales, música de rap, meditación, yoga y danza.
La performance está dividida en varios actos, construyendo así una narrativa experimental, nacida de la libre interpretación de los artistas, sobre las procesiones de Semana Santa, vividas por el artista al llegar a España. Durante casi dos horas de duración Combo se llenará de performers y público, con el objetivo de crear una expresión viva y contemporánea de religiosidad. Sin límites marcados de dicotomía y tradición, la coreografía busca destacar aspectos de la vida cotidiana dentro de la ensoñación y el surrealismo.
La obra de Karen Nikgol abarca desde dibujos y pinturas hasta producciones y eventos/]. Su trabajo a menudo recrea las tradiciones de órdenes esotéricas y New Age para crear connotaciones eróticas, místicas y humorísticas.
Su obra más reciente, tanto colectiva como individual incluye: «John Galliano y Bashment Crew», en el Black Box Theatre y la Galería RAM en Oslo; la opereta » The Silent Song of the Sphinx» («La Canción Silenciosa de la Esfinge»), en el Black Box Theatre; «Tilfældet Oslo»(……), en la Galería Ringsted de Dinamarca; » The Anatomical Theatre» («El Teatro Anatómico»), en el Vigeland Museum; «The City is Empty» («La Ciudad está Vacía»), en el Kronika Museum de Polonia; y «Circle of Fire» («Círculo de Fuego»), en NooSphere Arts en Nueva York.
Karen Nikgol es además uno de los fundadores y comisarios del espacio autogestionado por artistas NoPlace en Oslo, Noruega.

CoMbO is pleased to announce the performance event entiteled The New Catholicism which will take place at CoMbO on the 1st of may 2015 at 20:00 hours. The New Catholicism is a choreography developed by the Norwegian artist Karen Nikgol which is currently in residence at La Fragua Artist Residency in Belalcazar.
For his project Karen Nikgol has involved local actors from Belalcazar, yoga practitioners and

Cordovan rapper and musician Still, Espiritu de Calle and DJ JMC. In The New Catholicism Nikgol mixes the performers personal stories with rituals, seances, rap music, meditation, yoga and dance.
The performance event will contain several acts to construct a experimental narrative derived from the artists free interpretation of the Semana Santa Processions which he experienced upon his arrival to Spain. Througout the duration of about 2 hours CoMbO will be filled with performers and audiences, with the aim of creating an alive and contemporary expression of religiousness. Without heavy boundaries of dichotomy and tradition the choreography seeks to heighten aspects of daily life into the dreamlike and the surreal.
Karen Nikgol ́s artworks stretches from drawings and painting to stage productions and events. His work often mimics the traditions of esoteric orders and New Age to create erotic, mystical and humorous connotations.
His recent stage productions, group and solo shows include: «John Galliano and Bashment Crew» at Black Box Theatre and RAM gallery in Oslo, the operetta «The Silent Song of The Sphinx» at Black Box Theatre, «Tilfældet Oslo» in Ringsted Gallery Denmark, «The Anatomical Theatre» at Vigeland Museum, «The City is Empty» at Kronika Museum, Poland and «Circle of Fire», NooSphere arts in NYC.
Karen Nikgol is also one of the founders and curator of the artist run exhibition venue No Place in Oslo, Norway
